About LOCOMORPH

LOCOMORPH is a research-driven publication dedicated to the intersection of robotics, artificial intelligence, and bio-inspired locomotion. Originally established as part of a European research consortium investigating locomotion and morphology in adaptive robots, LOCOMORPH has evolved into an independent platform covering the latest advances across the robotics landscape.

Our focus spans legged and soft robotics, autonomous navigation, drone systems, reinforcement learning for motor control, and underwater exploration technologies. We aim to bridge the gap between academic research and practical understanding, delivering in-depth analysis written by working researchers.

Marcus Reinhardt

Marcus Reinhardt is a robotics enthusiast and technical writer with over a decade of hands-on experience building and programming robots. He got his start tinkering with Arduino boards and hobby servos, and eventually turned that passion into a career covering robotics and automation.

Over the years, Marcus has collaborated with several organizations in the robotics community. He spent time at EPFL's Biorobotics Laboratory in Switzerland, working alongside their team on bio-inspired locomotion systems. He has been an active contributor to the NextStep Robotics Collective, a student-run organization focused on open-source legged robot development and community workshops, and has volunteered with the BioMech Student Lab, an interdisciplinary group exploring biomechanics, animal locomotion analysis, and hardware prototyping. He also supports the WalkBot Initiative, a youth-led maker community building low-cost quadruped robots for education and STEM outreach.

Marcus runs LOCOMORPH as an independent publication, breaking down the latest in robotics, AI, and movement technology. Outside of work, he's into trail running and building open-source robotics kits for beginners.
